BOOK TWO: THE NINTH TALISMAN. If you haven't read the previous post, you should probably do that before reading this one.
In the years after Breaker (now called Sword) came back home, the first wizard he ever saw became wizard lord, the Red Wizard, Artil. He is a young man with great vision and desire to make the world a better place. He wants to deft the ler (spirits that are present in everything) and make humanity the dominant power, as oppsosed to appeasing the ler all the time. And oddly enough, he also wants to get rid of magic, this is from the back of the book:
...What if the new Wizard Lord is intent upon ruling without magic...and what if that intention includes the removal of the Chosen?
So there you go. Since Artil was a little boy he always wanted to destroy magic, priesthood, and anything that involves ler period. It's a fairly good addition to the series. There is also a third volume, The Summer Palace, which I will not be posting on, because it is just a continuation of The Ninth Talisman.

deft in the first paragraph is meant to be 'defy.'
